THE Surf Life Saving brand have released a sunscreen that they claim is not harmful to the environment.

This comes in light of recent reports stating that sunscreen could be having a harmful effect on coral reefs and other marine life. Stay tuned to the Fisho website for an upcoming feature on this issue with our marine biology editor Dr Ben Diggles.

Surf Life Saving said that their Marine Friendly Sunscreen will alleviate your concerns that the sunscreen you put on your skin washes off into rivers, lakes and our ocean, potentially harming our unique marine environment.

Marine Friendly Sunscreen has a high protection rating of 50+ and doesn’t contain the harmful chemical oxybenzone, which is said to cause harm to coral reefs. Surf Life Saving also claim that their sunscreen is not harmful to fish or algae.
