TODAY’S video is a trailer for a new film from highly talented South African fisho and filmmaker Jako Lucas, aka Captain Jack Films. Jako was recently featured in the Amberjack Journal with an article that highlights his many exploits as both a guide and a filmmaker.
Jako guides each season with Alphonse Fishing Company in the far outer reaches of the Seychelles, a place renowned for superb flats fishing, with bonefish, milkfish, permit and, perhaps most famously, humungous GTs in the shallows. His latest film, Chanos Chanos is about the enigmatic plankton-feeding milkfish, a target that, for a very long time, was thought to be impossible to catch with a fly rod. In typical Captain Jack style it’s brilliantly shot and produced and is an official selection in the 2016 Fly Fishing Film Tour.
