THE KTI Safety Alert Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) is a stand-alone product that is explicitly designed for emergency situations – anywhere and at any time.
KTI PLBs send high power signals to the Cospas-Sarsat satellite network. This network provides global coverage 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The PLB-satellite link is extremely robust, designed to work reliably under the most demanding situations including thick cloud cover and heavy precipitation – even during hailstorms and heavy snowfall. The Cospas-Sarsat system feeds emergency signals directly into the national Search and Rescue facility, eliminating the “middle man” pitfalls of other systems. The Cospas-Sarsat system is totally free to end users. There are no commercial contracts or subscriptions and users can register their PLB with AMSA to ensure relevant details are at hand in the event of PLB activation.
The KTI Safety Alert PLB is a palm size device that is manufactured in Australia. It has a built-in high power strobe light and an internal high performance GPS receiver. The KTI Safety Alert PLB is waterproof to a depth of more than 3 metres. It features a swivel antenna to enable correct deployment in challenging environments including use with a life vest in water. It boasts a 10 year battery standby life and a 10 year warranty.
The KTI Safety Alert PLB is supplied with a durable carry case, a lanyard with whistle and a mirror-style reflector. It weighs less than 140 grams and measures 88 x 64 x 31mm.
