THE continuous evolution of the Stradic range provides anglers with a new level of fishing performance. What we have in the FL series is improved casting, smoother winding and increased durability.

The Stradic FL utilises many of the technologies that have made the Shimano name a byword in high performance fishing reels. Hagane Body, Hagane Gear, X-Ship, and G-Free Body have all found a place in this new series. These combine to make the Stradics strong, durable and uncompromising.

The first of these technologies is Micromodule Gear II. This is an upgrade to the surface of the drive and pinion gear, meaning reel noise is minimised, as the gears align and perform with nominal resistance. Next, we have SilentDrive, which reduces the smallest of clearance gaps and tolerances within the gearing system. Additionally, the Hagane Gear has been upgraded for added strength, which in turn creates a silky-smooth feel with uncompromising output.

On top of all this, X-Protect has also been added to the FL lineup. The internal labyrinth type structure gives them a superior level of water-resistance, without impeding the rotation or lightness of the reel. A new Long Stroke Spool has been incorporated to improve casting distance, thereby giving the angler the ability to cover more water. The 1000 and 2500 models feature felt drag washers, while the C3000, 4000 and C5000 models have upgraded Cross Carbon drags systems.

With 6+1 SA-RB ball bearings, the new Stradics are sure to impress anyone who picks one up. Apart from the mechanical advancements, they now have a sharper look and feel, with a very smart silver and blue colour scheme. They will be available in store this July, with an RRP from $339.95 to $389.95.
