The Claw childrens book
LOVE fishing so much you’ve thought about writing a book about it? Having been fishing and crabbing her whole life, NSW Central Coast resident Karen Witt has done exactly that!
Launched this month (just in time for Christmas), The Claw is a beautifully-illustrated children’s book for kids 4-8 years of age.
The Claw is about a crab who loses one of his nippers and his adventurous journey in finding the strength to triumph. Exploring themes around difference, acceptance and self-worth, the book carries an important message for kids – especially in today’s social media-dominated society. (There are adults who could learn from it too!)
Inspired by many fishing trips on Brisbane Water, catching mud and blue swimmer crabs, The Claw is Karen’s first children’s book. It’s also the first in ‘The Claw Books’ trilogy, which features the same cool characters and a progressive plot.
At $24.95 RRP, this hardcover book would make a great present for young kids and is available to buy online at theclawbooks.com.au (For parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, carers and teachers… the website also has plenty of fishing-related resources for children – colouring, dot-to-dot, crab fact sheets and other activities – all downloadable for free!)
CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY: We have two copies of The Claw to giveaway! To enter: visit theclawbooks.com.au, watch the video clip on the homepage, and tell us the name of crab who loses his claw. Email your answer to firstname.lastname@example.org
