FOLLOWING on from our weird catches story earlier in the week, came this photo sent to us by Fisho writer Mark Williams.
The photo features Mark’s mate Shannon Bruce who’d just plucked out an albacore from the surf at Macmasters Beach on the NSW Central Coast. Shannon apparently attempted to release the albie but it unfortunately kept beaching itself. An onlooker eventually took the tasty fish often described as the “chicken of the sea”, home to cook up.
Exactly what a pelagic normally found nearer the continental shelf was doing floundering in a beach break is anyone’s guess.
With winter still a few weeks away and warm water still hugging much of the south-eastern coastline, the weirdness is set to continue…
