Angler safety warning issued

WHILE the punishing weather that hit much of NSW in the past few days has eased, anglers are being urged to take extra care if fishing or boating.

The NSW Recreational Fishing Alliance issued a warning this week to anglers to be mindful that fast flowing flood waters in rivers and estuaries will continue to present a safety risk for several days.

Muddy waters can also obscure new snags and other potential dangers.

Flood waters will have put a lot of logs, branches, rubbish and debris into the ocean and caused changes in channels and sandbars, all of which could be hazardous for boaters. Navigation markers may have been damaged or lost.

The RFA says enjoy the better weather as it returns but slow down, keep your eyes open and be extra vigilant.
