BASED on the NSW South Coast and founded by Greg Reid in 2009, Bay and Basin Sportfishing (BBSF) recently underwent a transformation to become a collective of Jervis Bay and St Georges Basin’s best fishing guides and instructors. As a result, BBSF has now re-commenced full time guided light tackle sportfishing tours in the region. Since its expansion, Reid says BBSF can now offer clients a complete guided light tackle sportfishing experience via tours and tuition on lure fishing, bait fishing, land based wading, beach and bass fishing. BBSF also hopes to once again soon offer its popular Hobie Kayak Fishing Tours.

Reid says, “I’m really excited to be working with new guides Canberra based Brett Richards and local fishing freak Jake Neville to maintain the momentum built over the past six years.

We really want to put you, our wonderful clients, in the picture as we take advantage of some of the best light tackle estuary and inshore sportfishing on the south coast of NSW.”

Canberra based guide Brett Richards has a long and passionate background in sport fishing, and says he’s “had a very fortunate fishing life”.

A long career in some of NSW’s premier tackle stores, active membership in a number of fishing clubs, including a role as a founding member of the Sydney Fly Rodder’s Club, Richards has fished around much of Australia for most popular sport fishing species. Additionally, his fishing experiences include peacock bass in the Amazon, bonefish in Florida, brook trout in Tierra del Fuego, dog tooth tuna in Vanuatu, and some monstrous black bass in Papua New Guinea.

Despite his experience with exotic species and far away locations, Richards says he considers the NSW South Coast to be his “home waters” and he has a deep seated affinity for the region’s largely pristine estuaries. He is constantly developing and refining effective techniques for casting lures to the species that inhabit these beautiful waterways, and enjoys sharing these techniques with fellow sport fishers.

According to Greg Reid, BBSF’s youngest member, Jake Neville, “lives on the water and knows the Basin like the back of his hand, having grown up here.

“Jake honed his skills up north at Melville Island Lodge and brings a level of local knowledge and experience developed from being a serious ‘lure addict’ and fly fisher.

“One of Jake’s specialties is Shoalhaven River bass so book a tour with him today!”
