One hundred and eighty thumping brown trout like this one were recently released into the Devilbend Reservoir in Victoria.

A LITTLE while ago we brought you news that there would be on-water angling access to part of the Devilbend Reservoir in Victoria from December 2. Now the Victorian Fisheries Authority has announced that 180 thumping brown trout up to 2.5kg each were released into the Reservoir this week to improve the mixed fishery, which also includes a thriving stocked estuary perch population.

The browns were grown at the Snobs Creek hatchery, near Eildon, which is funded by fishing licence fees.

Helping Fisheries staff release the fish were Tom ‘Devilbend’ Camp from the Mornington Peninsula Fly Fishers and David Kramer from the FutureFish Foundation.

There are exciting times ahead at Devilbend with an extension to the fishing platform also underway.
