RECFISHWEST says if you fish in Broome or plan to, then it’s time to get very excited.

A set of fish aggregating devices (FADs) have begun the 2,000+ kilometre journey from Perth to Broome, where they will be deployed close to shore.

Recfishwest says, the Broome FAD program is part of the state-wide FAD trial and is the most experimental yet. Unlike conventional offshore FADs, the Broome FADs will be located inshore, accessible to tinnies and other small boats.

The FADs are expected to attract popular species, including: queenfish, trevally and mackerel.
