Well established charter fishing business Bay & Basin Sportsfishing, which operates at Jervis Bay and St Georges Basin on the NSW South Coast, is for sale.
Bay & Basin Sportsfishing owner and well known fishing guide Greg Reid says, “With two young children, six seasons, a few thousand clients, and over 1000 days on the water, it’s time for me ‘come ashore’ so to speak and give someone else a crack at ‘the life of Riley’, ie being a fishing guide.”
While Reid says his main motivation for selling his charter business is to spend more time with his kids, he isn’t planning on giving away guiding altogether.
“I absolutely love it, and my ideal scenario is to find a buyer for B&BSF and contract back to them for a few days a month. I will also be doing a few trips a year guiding up north.”
Reid also says he would consider selling his boat only and retaining the business and charter licence and taking a commission on bookings.
“This may give a younger person the chance to enter the industry without having to lay out the extra capital,” he says.
Commissions are also taken on Hobie Kayak Fishing Tours operating under the Bay & Basin Sportsfishing brand and charter fishing licence.
Note – it is essential to either have a NSW Coxwains certificate or at least a complete understanding of the requirements to obtain one. The business specialises in light tackle lure fishing so a passion for this art is essential.
The sale of assets includes but is not limited to:
A 5.6m Clarke Condor centre console vessel in NSW 2d survey; NSW transferable charter fishing licence with all endorsements for 8 with current permits for the Jervis & Batemans Marine Parks. If required, the vessel and licence can be used anywhere in NSW.
Asking price for the complete business is $60,000.
