Ferntree Gully Quarry has been stocked with large trout, Murray cod and golden perch.

AFTER years of VRFish advocating for the Ferntree Gully Quarry to be stocked and open to fishing, the hard work has finally paid off. The Victorian lake is now choc-a-bloc full of catchable size fish.

The Knox City Council has put in lots of work over the last 10 years to rehabilitate the vegetation in the area, and you can now expect to wrangle with rainbow trout and some of our favourite natives such as Murray cod and golden perch. This will provide great land based fishing opportunities for the local community.

This is the third urban waterway that the Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) has stocked with catchable size native fish since March, following in the footsteps of Karkarook and Casey Fields lakes.

Thanks to the Knox Boat Fishing Club and the crew from Upper Ferntree Gully Primary School for braving the chilly weather and helping VFA stock the lake.

If you live nearby, pack your tackle box, grab the kids after school when the rain-clouds clear and get down here!
