FISH Port Stephens Estuary Charters is Port Stephens’ newest charter boat and the only one in the area dedicated to estuary fishing.
It is owned and operated by life time local angler, Paul Lennon, who has spent the past 30 years fishing the area and unlocking its secrets.
In this time Paul has racked up many fishing achievements, some of which include winning the Port Stephens Trailer Boat comp twice and coming runner up three times, breaking the NSW record for snapper, and catching the second and third oldest mulloway on record. He is also one of the few anglers to have caught a genuine one metre flathead.
Working full-time for almost two decades in various tackle stores, Paul felt the need for a dedicated estuary charter boat out of Port Stephens.
It wasn’t an easy process to set up, especially starting from scratch, and took a lot of time to get all the right qualifications, licences and permits…not to mention getting the boat built…but in the end it all came together.
The vessel is a 5.7 m long rear console with a massive 2.49 m beam and huge front casting deck that comfortably fishes up to four anglers. It is extremely stable but also has a nice 15 degree deadrise to eat up any messy wind chop or run out tide.
Fish Port Stephens Estuary Charters customises each charter to suit the client catering for all level of anglers from families with young children to expert anglers.
Depending on time of year Paul could be targeting flathead, mulloway, bream, whiting, squid, kingfish, bass, estuary perch, longtail tuna, salmon, tailor or luderick.
