Follow the leader

Baits, lures and flies attract more hits if fish cannot see your line. This basic design principle for fishing leaders is the inspiration behind the use of fluorocarbon. Fluorocarbon is the undisputed champion of least visible lines and the full range of Rovex Fluorocarbon makes top quality leaders more affordable than ever.

Rovex Fluorocarbon is made from premium-grade 100 per cent polyvinylidene fluoride, or PVDF. (Beware of fluorocarbon-coated lines sold as ‘fluorocarbon leader’.) True PVDF fluorocarbon has the same light refractive index as water and when submerged is up to 95 per cent invisible.

PVDF is the most highly regarded fluorocarbon material for fishing leader. Anglers prefer it over standard monofilament because: its optical density is lower, making it less visible; it has a harder outer surface, for abrasion resistance; it doesn’t soak up water like mono; it’s denser, sinks faster and won’t float.

Rovex Fluorocarbon offers 10 leader strengths from 4lb (with a super-thin 0.17mm diameter) for finicky bream or wily mountain stream trout, to 80lb for eluding the sharp eyesight of yellowfin tuna in clear offshore currents.

The lighter strengths are sold on small spools perfect for fly vest pockets; the heavier leaders have large easy-to-use, easy-to-store leader rings. Rovex Fluorocarbon is also available as ready-to-fish Rovex Wind On Leader in 20lb, 30lb, 50, 80lb and 100lb.
