DEAN Hamilton is a knife maker from Batemans Bay who is involved in the Forge Through Veterans Program.  He is putting out a call for help in holding a veterans and first responders fishing day.

“I am looking for a heap of my old tournament fishing friends to help me out. I am looking for some boaters who would be keen to take a veteran or first responder out for a social/tournament day on St George’s Basin” says Dean.

The details of the event, so far, are:

When:  Looking at a Sunday early December, date to be set.
Location:  St Georges Basin
Entry:  No fee but we will sell some sausage sangas and drinks for lunch to cover costs.
Format: Nominated species total length catch and release. So we catch heaps for the guys/girls
Prizes: 1-3 donated prizes (Dean will donate two Skin n Bone fillet knives to a winning team).

If you are keen to do something good for people who have done their bit, please send Dean a message via the Forge Through Facebook page, or phone him on 0421 861 424. The more boats we can get, the more we can help.

Meanwhile, if you’re a first responder or veteran interested in a day of fishing and learning from some of the best anglers in the business…please register your interest in the comments section of this Facebook post.

What's your reaction?
