Game angler lands first ever SA broadbill

FISHO’S South Australian correspondent Jamie Crawford reports an angler has taken the state’s first ever broadbill swordfish on rod and reel.

According to Jamie, local angler Carn Taylor landed the 154.7kg broadbill swordfish on 37kg tackle while fishing on board Tharah off Port MacDonnell in South Australia’s south east this week.

This first known capture of a broadbill swordfish on rod and reel in SA is expected to further raise the profile of gamefishing for the species in southern waters, highlighted by recent noteworthy captures in Tasmania.

Congratulations on your catch, Carn.
