FISHOS who've ventured to remote areas of northern Australia may have heard stories, or witnessed firsthand, the antics of the giant Queensland groper that has developed a bit of a reputation as a "fish stealer"...
A fisho who recently encountered such a groper while filming in Cape York was TV presenter/fishing writer Rob Paxevanos.
"We came across a giant groper that stole six big metre plus barra/queenies from us in short succession ... and was still hungry," Paxevanos told Fisho.
While the big groper displayed an equally big appetite for lively fresh fish, no one on board expected it to hit a lure, albeit one measuring 73 cm long ... see the result below.
