NSW is set for a big weekend of fishing with Gone Fishing Day events throughout NSW set to attract thousands of keen anglers out for a fun-filled day of fishing activities.

NSW DPI will be running six major fishing events from 9am to 3pm at: Ballina (Pop Denison Park), Moree (Jellicoe Park), Lake Macquarie (Pelican Foreshore Reserve), Botany Bay (Dolls Point, Peter Depena Reserve), Huskisson (Voyager Park) and Mulwala (Apex Park).

There will be plenty of fun, fishing activities for the whole family, including: fishing clinics, casting comps, goodie bags (including free lures!), fish cooking demonstrations and lots more. Fishing personalities will also be giving talks and providing top fishing tips throughout the day. There will be lots happening for the kids too – fish touch tanks, jumping castles, face painting, petting zoos etc. If they are lucky they might even catch a photo with our crab mascot, Snappy, who will be giving prizes
out.

If you’re a seasoned fisher, a new starter or just interested in having a go – these events are for you. The above Gone Fishing Day activities are free, and there is no need to register for the event (just come on the day).

This year, will again see forty-eight fishing clubs across the state running their own Gone Fishing Day events, thanks to funding support from the Recreational Fishing Trusts.

Gone Fishing Day is our chance to celebrate our love of fishing as a healthy outdoors, family activity. No fishing licence will be required on the day.
