THE Coffs Harbour Regional Boat Ramp in NSW is the only boat launching facility between the Queensland border and Crowdy Head, a distance of almost 600 km, that offers ocean access without needing to beach launch or cross a coastal bar.
For years it has been servicing thousands and thousands of locals and visitors alike who come to the Coffs Coast for our amazing fishing and boating that is available.
Unfortunately, the ramp itself has a long history of unsafe conditions, along with poorly designed cleaning tables and no basic amenities such as toilets or boat wash areas.
In the right conditions, the ramp offers great access to some of the best coastline our country has to offer, but in the wrong conditions, it can become hazardous and there are regular stories about people who don’t wish to launch there, not only due to launching conditions, but also due to the lack of basic facilities at the ramp. This is very disappointing due to the amazing fishing that is right there just begging to be explored!
A newly formed group, the ‘Coffs Harbour Regional Boat Ramp Precinct Enhancement Committee’, are working hard to change this, and bring the Coffs Harbour boat ramp up to standard, with safer conditions, and better facilities.
