Hobie launches Quest 13 paddle ‘yak

MENTION Hobie to a kayak angler and you’ll most likely get talking about the Hobie MirageDrive pedal propulsion system. With the recent release of the paddle-powered Hobie Quest 13, paddle enthusiasts will be talking Hobie too.

The Quest 13 has a host of new and improved features including: a higher, drier seat, flat deck for standing, map pockets and extra space for mounting accessories. It’s a ‘yak designed to appeal to both hardcore anglers and weekend adventurers.

On the water the Quest 13 matches good looks with great performance. Hobie says the the narrow vertical bow, long keel and rounded stern slice through the water with little resistance and razor-straight tracking.

The rotomoulded polyethylene hull features generous below deck stowage, ample space for tackle boxes or tents, plus moulded rod holders at the perfect angle for trolling.

The deck layout is another signal of Hobie’s commitment to performance. The low-slung seat keeps the angler closer to the water, improving stability and decreasing wind resistance. A flat frame surrounding the cockpit will comfortably hold track-mounted accessories while the centre console keeps electronics at arm’s reach and out of the way. A large, Bungee-secured stern cargo area accommodates everything from additional tackle to a Hobie Livewel. An optional Twist and Stow rudder with foot steering gives paddling anglers even more control.

The Quest 13 comes standard with the Lowrance Ready System, a built-in transducer mount and pre-installed through-hull cable plugs.

Like all Hobie kayaks the Quest 13 is constructed with quality components, beautifully finished plastic throughout and accessories that are second to none.
