A YELLOWTAIL kingfish tagged on April 13 this year by Cristy Worsteling of the iFish TV show while filming a recent episode at Jervis Bay has recently been recaptured. This fish featured on the iFish show two weeks ago and was recaptured on July 31 at 12 mile reef, Sydney by fisher Robert Zaccaria.

The recaptured kingy had travelled from fairly shallow water where it was found in autumn, out to deeper reef some 78 nautical miles (~145 km) north of its release location over the course of 109 days. It was 89 cm in length when tagged and hadn’t grown by the time it was recaptured.

Kingfish have the highest recapture rate of all the fish species tagged under the program, with the rate standing at approximately 12% over the last 3 years.
