THIS weekend, April 7 and 8, saw the inaugural “Ovens River Classic” on the Ovens River, Victoria, hosted by the Australian Trout Foundation Inc (ATF) and Native Fish Australia ( NFA ) and supported by the Victorian Fisheries Authority.

Huge congratulations to Terry George for a winning with a 41 cm brown trout and a 30 cm rainbow, Kris Leckie for a landing a 37 cm brown trout and Damien Mitchell who grabbed the chocolates for the biggest rainbow with a 35 cm beauty.

The Murray cod played hard to get, but not that hard for Shane Reynolds who snaffled a 70 cm bunch of green goodness and Kristie Brown who got three excellent cod with 60 cm – her biggest from the Ovens near Myrtleford.

Great work to everybody involved and for celebrating Victoria’s top class trout and cod fisheries in the amazing Ovens River.

What's your reaction?
