These 25 trout were allegedly taken by three people from a Family Fishing Lake that had been stocked for the school holidays. The bag limit in these lakes is 5 trout per day per person.

IN Victoria, a phone call to 13FISH (133474) has netted three people from Dandenong allegedly in possession of 25 rainbow trout at Emerald Park Lake.

The lake is a designated Family Fishing Lake and as such has a daily bag limit of 5 trout per person, of which only 2 trout can exceed 35cm.

Emerald Park Lake is one of over 70 lakes stocked for school holidays with catchable size rainbow trout.

Fisheries Officers responded to the 13FISH call and inspected two men, one of whom was fishing with their son of about 12.

They had 4 trout in a bag where they were fishing. A search of their vehicle uncovered a further 21 trout. They were interviewed and admitted to taking all 25 trout that day.

The two men will each receive a $476 infringement notice for exceeding the catch limit.

People can report illegal or suspicious fishing activity to 13FISH anytime and anonymously.
