Metre barra mayhem!

LAST week delivered some memorable barra action for visitors to Arnhemland’s Barramundi Nature Lodge.

The Lodge reports that last Thursday, guide Peter Twine guided David Ley onto a magnificent 123cm barra – see pic at right.

As you can see in the photo, the length is all about the massive tail and extended tail wrist. It was a tough one to land with so much propeller torque.

Also pictured are “metreys” from fishos Sam Crowley and Steve Ebsworth.

These great fish follow the two other metreys caught at the start of the week: Michael Linton’s 108cm barra and John Wrench’s 114cm fish.

Six metre barra, from 105cm to 123cm in just five days.

Steve Ebsworth struggles with his metrey. This one measured at 111cm and the guide was Trevor Robb.

The Lodge reports there were also some bruising black jewfish prowling among the metre barra, smashing lures and smoking up drags, Andrew Jones landed a beauty that went 136cm!
