Vanessa Bennet caught this 102 cm Murray cod on the surface while fishing on Lake Mulwala.

A MASSIVE congratulations goes to Vanessa Bennett, who joined the cod caught on a surface lure metre club over the weekend.

According to an item on the Victorian Fisheries Authority’s (VFA) Facebook page, Vanessa landed a ripper 102 cm cod on a wake walker while fishing out on Lake Mulwala.

Vanessa said while she’s caught a few metre-long monsters casting and trolling, “nothing beats landing one on the surface”.

The VFA say they want to give everyone the best chance at catching a trophy cod, which is why they’ve upgraded the Majors Lane, Pyke Street and Pasley Street boat ramps, giving even more anglers access to Lake Mulwala.
