THE “cover star” of Fishing World‘s August 2018 edition – initially caught and released in Coffin Bay – has been recaptured.

Jamie Crawford caught the huge 141cm kingfish in Coffin Bay, 2016, while fishing with Brett Mensforth. The fish was originally caught on a live salmon trout and released shortly after the cover shot was taken.

Three years later, Jacob Fewster recaptured the tagged “cover star” kingfish – measuring 150cm and an estimated 32kg. The fish was recaptured near Whyalla, travelling a distance of 265 nautical miles along the coastline. The fish was caught on a live squid the second time around, and had spent 1118 days at liberty.

In another twist, Jacob Fewster re-released the kingfish, too. Perhaps, we might see this fish on another edition of Fisho?

What's your reaction?
