AS of April 1, 2018, all commercial net fishing ceased in Corio Bay, Victoria.

According to the Victiorian Fisheries Authority, that means more whiting, snapper, flathead and calamari for recreational anglers and their families and a boost to tourism on the Bellarine Peninsula.

Ending commercial net fishing in Corio Bay is part of a bigger plan to remove all netting from Port Phillip Bay by 2022.
