THE North Coast Fishing Bonanza presented by Gamakatsu and Evinrude is on again in 2016, from September 29th through to the 3rd October.

This is prime time for school holidays and over the long weekend so you don’t have to take much time off to fish! If you’re looking for something to get the kids involved in, look no further. The format involves four days of fishing starting Thursday night and finishing Monday. Last year the event was a hit with over 330 competitors chasing a wide variety of inshore and offshore species from boat and land taking home a share in a massive $80,000 in giveaways and prizes.

This year adults compete in a variety of fish categories from snapper, pearl perch, mulloway, tailor, king/cobia, amberjack/samson fish, whiting, bream, blackfish, mangrove jack, flathead and bass. For Cadets, there is a range of offshore and inshore species to target including snapper, mulloway, bream and flathead while juniors can fish for the usual estuary suspects like flathead, bream, whiting and bass.

There are a host of prizes on offer with a total prize pool of over $80,000 up for grabs again. All adult competitors have the chance to win a boat motor trailer package from sponsored by TABS and Evinrude plus Lowrance sounders and Engel fridge/freezers. Cadets have a Hobie Kayak up for grabs as well as Electrical products, bicycles and fishing gear.

At the show site on the banks of the Richmond River, daily talks will attract plenty of interest with some enthusiastic youngsters sure to be involved in the soft plastics demonstrations.

This year there will be a host of winners receiving sponsors product from Wilsons Fishing, Samurai rods, Atomic, ATC to Shimano estuary packs, Engel fridges and eskies courtesy of the Ice Box Bloke just to name a few.
