THE Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) of NSW has urged the state’s fishers to sign the “Animal Welfare Laws are about to change” ePetition.
The online petition was created by RFA president Stan Konstantaras in response to a NSW Department of Primary Industries discussion paper that could affect how anglers are allowed to fish in the future.
The RFA said: “Every NSW fisher should question the NSW Government why it would blindly support the notion that, fishing “harms” the fish and why it would propose new laws that will specifically acknowledge psychological suffering in the definition of cruelty; in addition to the already existing provisions around pain and physical suffering.”
The petition calls on the NSW Assembly to withdraw and abandon the review process and it not proceed to legislation.
