THE NSW DPI – Fisheries Freshwater Environment Branch is currently recruiting. Successful applicants will join the Freshwater Environment Branch in DPI Fisheries and focus on conserving native fish populations and aquatic habitats, especially in the Murray-Darling Basin.

The Freshwater Environment Branch is involved in reducing risks to native fish populations and protecting aquatic habitats, conserving threatened species, populations and communities of fish, and promoting ecologically sustainable development.

There are a number of exciting roles available in the branch, which all ultimately ensure that activities being undertaken in the freshwater environments of NSW, including water management, infrastructure development, habitat rehabilitation and community engagement, are consistent with the objectives of Part 7 of the Fisheries Management Act (FMA) and associated policies and guidelines. As part of these roles, successful applicants will identify emerging risks and opportunities for protecting and enhancing native fish and freshwater environments, and lead the development of project proposals and funding bids to maximise investment in freshwater habitats.
