NSW RFA elects new chairman

WELL known rec fishing advocate Stan Konstantaras has been elected chairman of the Recreational Fishing Alliance of NSW.

Stan takes over the RFA chairmanship from Malcolm Poole, who has stepped down after more than 10 years. Stan brings to the job an impressive list of connections through his role as Australian National Sportfishing Association (ANSA) NSW President and ANSA National Safety Officer.

He has fished extensively not only in NSW but throughout Australia and the Pacific and has campaigned tirelessly on issues of access, safety and equitable share of the resource in NSW and in 2012 he was named “Volunteer of the Year” by national recreational fishing peak body Recfish Australia.

Stan’s other roles include:
– Member of the NSW Recreational Saltwater Trust Expenditure Committee
– Member of the Water Safety Council of Australia
– Affiliate Member NSW Water Safety Council
– Member of the Bioregional Advisory Panel (Temperate East) Commonwealth Marine Reserve Review.

Outgoing chairman Malcolm Poole has been appointed the RFA’s Fishing Safety Officer and will concentrate on developing the RFA’s work in this area under a NSW Recreational Fishing Trust funded project.
