Oar-Gee that's a good cause

FISHOS who buy a range of specially designed Oar-Gee lures get to help protect a variety of threatened fish species, with profits from sales of the lures going back into fisheries conservation.

All profits from the manufacture of Oar-Gee's "threatened species lures" will be donated back to NSW Fisheries Conservation Trust to further enhance the excellent work done to help protect these threatened and endangered species.

The lures include: trout cod, a large aggressive species which almost became extinct until a breeding program started in the late 1970s; Macquarie perch, a species whose survival depends on perfecting captive breeding techniques; purple spotted gudgeon, a colourful and aggressive little fish which were once widespread and are now in serious decline; and southern pygmy perch, a little fish which are important for controlling mosquitoes and have now almost disappeared from the Murray Darling Basin.
