Perch Search East Gippsland

OVER the weekend, Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) staff and volunteer fishers from across the state participated in the annual perch search in East Gippsland!

They spent hours fishing Bemm River and Marlo Inlet helping capture new broodstock estuary perch.

All in all, 46 perch were captured, measured, tagged and had DNA samples taken to assess their breeding suitability.

These fish have been driven to a fish hatchery in Narooma, which breeds baby EPs to be stocked into a number of waterways.

The VFA would like to thank all volunteers who assisted with the brood fish collection, particularly those from the Bemm River and Marlo Angling Clubs!

What's your reaction?
