Pirtek Fishing Challenge

Open to everyone in each state and territory in Australia, the aim of the Pirtek Fishing Challenge is to raise $100,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Stephen Dutton, General Manager of Pirtek Fluid Systems Pty Ltd, commented, “The demographic of Pirtek’s national workforce, customers and suppliers is predominantly male which made our decision to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia an easy one.

“The combination of raising much needed funding for prostate cancer and holding a national fishing competition seemed like a perfect fit. Sunday the 19th of April will be about getting out with family and friends and wetting a line. Myself and everyone at Pirtek wish all competitors the best of luck.”

Pirtek, together with Berkley, Lowrance and Evinrude have amassed a massive prize pool in excess of $100,000.   Each winning target species is worth $5000 cash with great prize packs for second, third and junior anglers.

The competition will be held on Sunday April 19, 2009 between 6am and 6pm, with each state’s target species to be revealed after 6pm Saturday April 18, 2009 via the website.

To register for the competition simply log on to www.pirtekfishingchallenge.com.au, read the rules and pay a registration fee of $15 which contributed to the goal of raising $100,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Entrants will be sent a limited edition Pirtek Fishing Challenge cap and brag mat.

All competitors need to do is catch their state’s target species, photograph the fish on the Pirtek brag mat along with their registered angler number and send the photo into www.pirtekfishingchallenge.com.au. The idea is to catch, measure, photograph and release the fish.

Fishing World writer and Pirtek Brand Champion Michael Guest, encourages everyone to get on board the competition. “Fishing is a huge part of my life and to direct my passion into helping raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation is a very satisfying and productive feeling.”

The winners and runners-up for each Sate and Territory will be posted on the website on Saturday, 25 April, 2009.
