Record year for IGFA records

Last year was an historic year for 2018 records.

LAST year, the IGFA approved 355 record applications, of which 43% were freshwater and 57% were saltwater. According to an article on the IGFA website, these records came from a total of 38 countries, with the USA, Japan and Australia leading the pack with 136, 62 and 27 records respectively. In terms of popularity, freshwater species dominated with rainbow trout, grass carp, common carp, bowfin and taimen being the five most popular species.
