LAST weekend saw the running of the 6th Annual Narooma Flathead Challenge, held on the pristine waters of Wagonga Inlet at Narooma and hosted by O’Briens Hotel – all involved in the event helped raise over $3000 for the Starlight Foundation.
There were 63 teams entered in the Challenge with some 235 anglers taking part in the catch, photograph and release competition.
Team Fisho was represented by Ian (Big E) Phillips and Les Waldock, President of the Narooma Sport and Gamefishing Club. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be the Fisho pairing’s weekend, as they could only manage 9/10 of their allotted fish for a score of 718 points.
The winning team went to Team Bunnies from Junee (although all of the team are almost locals with onsite vans in Narooma for years) with 1061 points.
The Biggest Fish of the Event went to Paul Mayer from Team Jigman with an impressive “croc” of 89cm.
Event participants wished to thank the organisers, Paul O’Brien, Stuie Hindson and Dawso for all of their hard work and for putting on such a great fun and friendly event.
