Revolutionary new fishing tournament for kids

HOOKS will be baited and drags will be screaming as hundreds of kids from around the country gear up for Australia’s largest monthly Kids fishing tournament.

Fishing Tournament Website GetFishing.com.au is introducing the revolutionary new tournament on September 1 for junior anglers aged 15yrs and under. The tournament will allow kids to be part of an online fishing club and compete every time they hit the water.

The concept is simple, angler friendly and revolutionises they way kids can get involved in fishing. As opposed to a traditional annual fishing competition held in a pub or club environment this new-age tournament is a nation-wide online competition that enables members to compete every day of the month, every month of the year. Participants simply register online, retrieve their monthly tournament code and compete from their favourite fishing locations anywhere in the country. When they catch a fish they place it on a brag mat (fish measure) with their code, take one photo of the fish on the mat and one photo of them holding the fish, then submit their photos via the website. If their fish is a new leader their name and photo will instantly be displayed on the live leaderboard for all to see.

GetFishing.com.au already host monthly State and National fishing tournaments for over 500 members. The much-anticipated Kids Tournament starts on Tuesday 1st September and all kids 15yrs and under are invited to compete. Prizes from Australia’s biggest brands will be awarded for the longest of 10 each species. Winners will each receive a $50-$160 prize plus an official Get Fishing certificate.

The aim is to get more kids involved in the sport and to encourage parents to take their kids fishing more often. The benefit to kids is huge and the flow on effects to families and the community is immense. The Kids Comp is something managing director Robbie Riches is very passionate about.

“We already have a number of junior anglers competing in our online tournaments and we are hearing great things from their parents about the positive impact it’s having on their kids’ lives. Not only does it provide kids with a healthy outdoors activity to look forward to on the weekend and after schools, it also helps boost their confidence when they see their name up on the leaderboard, especially if they win a prize,” said Riches.

Get Fishing is offering free 6-month Standard Membership (valued at $39) for kids aged 15yrs and under. This offer ends on 30th September so be quick.
