LAST week, Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) of NSW Safety Officer Malcolm Poole was at Tamarama SLSC engaging with around 50 people that were mostly from the nearby Middle-Eastern Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) community, along with George Mannah from NSWDPI Fisheries who coordinates these events.

The messages were about being safe whenever you are near the water, covering basic water safety and beach rules, safe fishing and recreational fishing rules and expanding the awareness and knowledge of all listeners to stay safe whenever they are near our coastal waters.

Fishing is an activity that many CALD community people like to engage in, so the RFA is helping ensure everyone knows the state’s fishing rules and regulations, as well as how to stay safe if they plan any fishing, or more particularly coastal rock fishing activities.
