LOCAL Coastcare volunteers are helping collect discarded fishing line from specialised bins, under a new partnership with Zoos Victoria.
‘Seal The Loop’ bins have been installed at popular fishing spots, for anglers to safely dispose of their fishing materials and prevent marine wildlife entanglement.
Coastcare Victoria will lead the assessment of the waste, to find out how much fishing material the bins capture and kept out of oceans.
More than 200 bins have been installed around Victoria, including locations at Portland, Warrnambool, Torquay and Geelong.
