Fisheries officers have discovered several concealed setlines in the Goulburn River, Cic.

VICTORIAN fisheries officers recently located several setlines during a boat patrol on the Goulburn River, downstream of Shepparton.

They searched sheds and outbuildings in an adjoining property and found a drum net and a 20 m mesh net belonging to the property owner.

The nets were seized and the man will receive an infringement notice of $806 for possessing commercial fishing equipment.

The officers did well to discover the concealed setlines in the river, one of which was attached to a submerged part of a generator pump. Another setline was discretely attached to the anchor rope of a small boat on the shore.

At times, fisheries officers also use grapples to find submerged illegal fishing gear.
