Shoalhaven hosts Round 7 of Southern Bream Series

IN the lead-up to the Southern Bream Series Grand Final in three weeks, Basin Lure and Fly Angler Inc ran Round 7 over the weekend on the Shoalhaven River.

Competitors found the going tough with only one full bag produced in the Boating section and two full bags in the Kayak section. There were 42 boating teams entered and 17 kayak anglers involved.

The final winner in the Boating section was Team Breamski with Steve Nedeski and Jarrod Lye with the only full bag of 5/5 totalling 1.990kg $1638.00; second went to Team Tonic Eyewear/FG Blades with Matt Starr and Damien Skeen with a 3/5 bag totalling 1.620kg $819.00.

Third place was Team Gamakatsu/Duff Rods of Nick Reay and Bryce Calvert with a 4/5 bag totalling 1.550kg $410.00; Fourth was Team 13 Fishing with Jay Rook and Brendon McNeil with a 1.48kg 4/5 bag for $245.00, and fifth was Team Gamakatsu/KBC with James Jones and Blake O’Grady with a 3/5 bag of 1.470kg for $164.00.

In the Boating section there were only a total of 45 fish for a combined weight of 18.650kg for 84 anglers.

The Hobie Big Bream prize was taken out by Matt Starr with a 0.870kg fish $350.

Matt Starr took out the Hobie Big Bream prize.

The Kayak section was won by Team Samaki/Ecooda – Glenn Allen with a bag of 3/3 totalling 1.450kg $425.00; second was Team Prolure Australia – Luke Kay with a bag of 3/3 totalling .940kg $216.00, and third was Team Totally Immersed Watersports/Duff Rods – Craig Coughlan with a bag of 2/3 totalling 0.790kg $132.00.

In the Kayak section there were a total of 14 fish for a combined weight of 5.410kg for 17 anglers.

The Big Bream prize of a Shimano Rarenium Reel valued at $250 went to Glenn Allen with a 0.660kg fish.

The Grand Final which is a 2 day event, will be held on St Georges Basin on Saturday October 11 and Sunday October 12.
