THE 9th annual Simrad Sydney Snapper “Red October” Championship recently wrapped up, and is fast becoming one of the premiere fishing events in the Sydney region.

This year over 125 anglers entered the tournament hosted by Waringah Anglers fishing club, and although the fishing conditions were tough, some nice snapper were caught over the duration of the weekend.

This year’s event raised $9,100 for the Bear Cottage Children’s Hospital in Manly. The cheque was handed over to Bear Cottage last week, who were extremely grateful for the donation. Sydney Snapper “Red October” Championship event organiser, Tim Angus, said their work is truly inspiring.

“I am sure the funds raised will be put to good use – helping young children and their families.” Angus said.

Warringah Anglers is an amateur fishing club run by volunteers who hope to make 2020 even bigger and better, to celebrate its 10th consecutive year.
