South Coast marlin bite still firing

MAKING the most of this season’s hot marlin bite on the NSW South Coast, Fisho publisher Chris Yu jumped onboard for a road trip to Eden recently with good mate Ben Sandman and his new Bar Crusher 670HT.

The run to the shelf on this part of the coast is much shorter than that from Sydney, so after a leisurely late-morning launch at Twofold Bay they set a spread of 9” Remora lures about a mile from the shelf just before midday. Within half an hour they were hooked-up to a solid striped marlin – the first marlin [and first time chasing them] for angler Sam Willett – which was duly released after some obligatory photos.

There were a number of other Bar Crusher boats in Eden that same weekend, with most of their keen owners towing their rigs from Melbourne to get in on the South Coast marlin action.

As you’d expect with so many like-minded anglers in one place (and Sunday’s weather a blow out), there were plenty of ‘one that got away’ stories flying around Eden Beachfront Holiday Park over a few beers on the Saturday night!

Here’s hoping the marlin bite continues for a few more weeks yet…
