Southern bluefin tuna recaptured after 14 years!

ACCORDING to a report via the Trapman Bermagui Facebook page a tagged southern bluefin tuna has been recaptured after an incredible 5368 days at liberty!

The fish was reportedly tagged on the 17th of December 2004, in the Great Australian Bite and measured 111cm. The fish grew approximately 70cm upon recapture, an entire 14 years and 8 months later.

This recapture is expected to be a new record for time at liberty under a tagging program.
