Tested: Ecooda Black Hawk 2000

I’VE been using an Ecooda Black Hawk 2000 threadline reel for all my flats lure fishing for whiting, bream and dusky flathead over the last season.

The reel has performed superbly when loaded with either GSP braid or fluorocarbon lines. The drag system has proven to be silky smooth under load, a crucial prerequisite when using ultra-light lines to chase estuarine sportfish.

Beneath the reel’s classy black finish lies a full aluminium body and side plate, 5 + 1 stainless steel ball and roller bearings and a carbon fibre rotor. I’ve found the snappy 5.1 to 1 gear ratio ideal for chasing whiting on poppers and stick baits. The non-slip EVA handle knob is perfect for a reel that’s being used for constant retrieves during long lure fishing sessions.

The Ecooda Black Hawk 2000 weighs approximately 265 grams and has a line capacity of 140m of PE2 (200m/0.020mm).

If you’re looking for a new threadline reel for light estuarine or freshwater luring that delivers high end performance at a reasonable price then I’d recommend you take a look at the Ecooda Black Hawk 2000. It really is a classy looking reel that delivers on performance as well.
