THE Victorian rock lobster season opening is just around the corner on Saturday 16th November.
The Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) is reminding recreational fishers that all harvested rock lobsters need to be tagged. The VFA says, the rock lobster tagging program is contributing valuable data to help us sustainably manage the fishery in the years to come.
Currently, there is a lack of information on how many rock lobsters are harvested by the recreational sector. The rock lobster tagging program will collect information on the numbers caught recreationally by using the number of tags used to represent the number of rock lobsters caught.
