Wanted: Volunteer marine radio operators

THE Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club in south-east Queensland is on the lookout for volunteer operators to help man the marine radios in the club's radio room.

The main duty of operators will be the logging on and off boats heading out onto Moreton Bay and points further afield.

The MBTBC needs more operators to bolster its reserves by being available in mornings, afternoons or evenings for a shift of around 5-6 hours duration. Shifts can be up to two per week, weekly or even fortnightly.

Prospective volunteers need the following:

  • MROCP radio licence
  • A few hours available on a weekday per week, fortnight or month (jobs are passed over to Coast Guard Brisbane on weekends and public holidays).
  • A willingness to give some time back to the boating community.
