DEBATE has flared up again surrounding the ethics of game fishing after the circulation of a recent pending world record tiger shark caught off Lake Macquarie.

The 625.5kg tiger shark, caught on 15kg line, is a pending world record but has upset some conservation groups and members of the public that are upset that the animal was killed for no reason other than to weigh the fish.

ABC Radio 702 discussed the issue yesterday with the president of the NSW Game Fishing Association, Gary Chenoweth.

Also discussed in the segment was the review into NSW Marine Parks, which is due to give its findings in March.

You can listen to the podcast of yesterday’s show here. The segment begins at 5:50.
