PLATYPUS Platinum Braid has been on the Australian market for quite a few years now but the guys at Platypus decided to upgrade it with several new features that have made it even better. Their R&D Team have been very busy looking at breading and secondary processes over the past 12 months to improve the strength of Platinum Braid to the point where the new Platinum+ Braid is more than 20 percent thinner and stronger than previous offerings. This puts the Brisbane based and Australian owned company at the forefront of braid technology where their product is as good or better than many of the imported braids available on the market.
Platinum+ Braid is available in sizes from 5 through to 50 pound and comes in realistic 300 yard spools where you can fill two spools on an estuary spin reel or fill a more serious reel for saltwater work with poppers and stickbaits. The 50 pound stuff also makes great flyline backing for saltwater fly fishing. The colour is a chartreuse tone. Platypus only use 100% ultra high molecular weight PE gel spun fibres in Platinum Braid and these are treated with a silicone impregnated coating process that produces a very smooth braid that casts further with reduced occurrence of wind knots.
