Boaters urged to take caution after APL England cargo ship container loss

BOATERS have been urged to take caution after 40 containers were lost overboard from the Singapore-flagged container ship APL England about 73km south east of Sydney on Sunday morning.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) boarded the ship yesterday at the Port of Brisbane anchorage.

Surveyors conducted a seaworthiness inspection to establish the structural and operational condition of the ship. AMSA says, the outcome of this inspection will help inform if, and how, the ship might be brought safely into the Port of Brisbane.

According to AMSA, the affected stacks contained a wide range of goods, including: household appliances, building materials and medical supplies.

There has been a report of some medical supplies washing up between Magenta Beach and The Entrance.

If you see debris which could be linked to the incident, please contact NSW Maritime
